School Social Worker

Antioch Community Consolidated School District #34 is seeking a part-time social worker for the upcoming school year.
 

 

Position Description

The School Social Worker promotes and enhances the overall academic mission by providing services that strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning. The School Social Worker significantly contributes to the development of a healthy, safe, respectful, responsible, and caring environment by advancing the understanding of the emotional, social, and behavioral development of students and the influences of family, school, learning, community, and cultural differences on student success and by implementing effective intervention strategies throughout the building, at all levels, providing various tiered supports.  The School Social Worker will be responsible for (but not limited to) various supports relating to the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students : prevention, consultation, coordination, analysis, assessment, facilitation, and integration of building wide supports for students through RTI/PBIS and Special Education services to students and support for staff, families, and the community.

Qualifications:

• Must have proper Professional Educator Licensure in the state of Illinois
• Expertise and background with RtI and PBIS, preferred
• Certification in Crisis Prevention Institute, onsite training available if necessary
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities
• Efficient time management and organizational skills
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, problem-solving skills and flexibility
• Strong counseling capabilities
• Proficient with assessment, data collection and evaluation processes
• Ability to participate and/or lead data-based decision making and problem solving at the building, grade and individual student level
• Ability to collaborate with all stakeholders within the educational community
• Knowledge of  IDEA rules/regulations and Illinois procedural requirements

 

Responsibilities:

• Lead extended school year program in supporting the overall emotional, social, and behavioral needs of all students
• Provide direct counseling support to students in ESY program through pull out and push in services
• Provide consultation with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding difficulties with social, emotional, and behavioral concerns
• Review  brief and complex functional behavior assessment process (FBA), as needed
• Interpretation of student data in the areas of social/emotional/behavioral
• Assist student teams, with final approval by administration, in developing schedules for paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students throughout the building
• Participate in, assist with, and/or manage student 504 evaluation and plans
• Provide social skills training to students
• Provide therapeutic intervention/counseling for students with social/emotional/behavioral needs
• Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for school community during summer programming
• Resource and referral with community-based agencies
• Provide regular, scheduled support to the Structured Learning Program, Learning Opportunities Program, and Early Childhood self-contained programs
• Crisis management
• Mandated reporter
• Other duties as assigned, by building and district administration
