Position Summary:

 

The Family/Community Engagement Liaison’s principal purpose is to provide support to parents and school community by providing resources and training that fosters collaboration between home and schools within the Rock Island-Milan School District 41.   The F/CEL-Lead will lead the district’s team of organizers/members and volunteers to ensure that District’s goals are being met.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Documents/reports all parent/family activities on district reporting tool.

  • Attends mandatory community and family involvement meetings in school and community.

  • Ensures the collection of, frequency of, and type of contact/communication with stakeholders; tracks volunteers, collects and shares description of activities, pictures, and /or flyers of school events.

  • Assists in the evaluation of parent involvement in the school through the use of surveys, documentation of activities, attendance, and other data collected throughout the year.  

  • Actively participates in on-going professional development, serves as an active member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council, participates in the district’s Check and Connect Group, and serves as a member of your assigned building’s (BLT).

  • Communicates with principals, teachers, parents, and others respectfully; works In collaboration with district and school leaders to serve the needs of both families and community.

  • Effectively engages educators, students, parents, and organizations as partners/participants in the program; Participates in and represents the individual school and district’s vision/mission in various stakeholder meetings.

  • Ensures the execution of the selected strategies for parent involvement and community engagement.  

  • Attends/works school and district-related community and family involvement events.

  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Required Education:

Two years of college or Associates degree in a field related to the position or at least three years of general work experience in the area described or a combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses:

N/A

 

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of one- two years of liaison experience in an educational/school environment.

  • One-two years’ experience engaging/collaborating with families of diverse backgrounds

  • Must have proven experience developing and maintaining positive relationships within a diverse population/community. 

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Applications as well as (Word, Excel, Google Docs, email, etc.)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • Must have excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.

  • Must have the ability to work independently and make decisions.

  • Demonstrates leadership skills and the ability to lead a team.

  • Displays trust and confidentiality.

  • Knowledgeable/skilled in investigating the appropriate resources to assist families.

  • Exhibits the ability to work collaboratively with adults within and outside of a school setting.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Bi-lingual not necessary but strongly preferred.

 

Physical Demands:

Lifting no more than 25 lbs. 

Sits at desk most of the work day.

Walk from place to place

Bending –Normal

Noise level normally quiet
