Qualifications:

Principal Licensure or Type 75 required

Successful administrative experience preferred

Experience in Dean of Students/Athletic Director at the middle school level preferred
 

Student Responsibilities:

  • Assists students in establishing high standards of conduct

  • Properly addresses the improvement of student attendance and discipline

  • Reports illegal acts to the proper authorities

  • Coordinates with administrative team to ensure coverage at all school events at which coverage is necessary. 

  • Confers with students and parents on security matters

  • Coordinates with outside organizations and agencies

  • Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with security

  • Investigates and resolves all discipline problems in a fair and just manner 

  • Investigates student complaints

  • Interviews students and witnesses in disciplinary investigations

  •  Investigate, adjudicate, and monitor infractions of the school code in the form of progressive discipline

  •  Suspends students from school in accordance with Board policy 

  •  Re-enters students upon completion of out-of-school suspensions, facilitates student/teacher reentry meetings

  • Maintains disciplinary records required by policy, regulation, law or good practice

  • Presents the school’s case in due process proceedings for suspension and expulsion 

  • Investigates attendance issues

  • Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support service personnel and students on matters of discipline and welfare

  • Works cooperatively with local police agencies and the School Resource Office on security matters 

  • Serves as liaison between school and home

  • Serves as liaison between school and juvenile court 

  • Serves as liaison between school, police and School Resource Officer 

 

Athletic Director Responsibilities:

  • Recommend to building principal and high school athletic director staff to fill coaching vacancies (with input from the head coach at the high school).

  • Schedule contests, buses, officials and facilities.

  • Coordinate facilities between practice schedules and games for various activities and sports and outside groups.

  • Communicate with schools with whom the interscholastic teams are competing.

  •  Conduct yearly coaches meetings to review schedules, officials, buses, budgets, equipment needs, equipment requests, insurance procedures, special forms, physical exam requirement changes and concerns.

  • Attend Athletic Booster meetings (quarterly) and provide input as well as requests both for individuals (participant fees) and clothing and equipment needs.

  • Schedule supervisors, ticket takers, and scorekeepers for contests.

  • Monitor that participation standards and practice times are being met.

  • Compile, post, and distribute necessary eligibility for all sports.

  • Provide seasonal participation reports.

  • Attend conference meetings.

  • Provide list of officials and fees to Business Office for payment.

  • Coordinate forms for eligibility, rosters, schedules and annual dues and fees with I.E.S.A.

  • Order and maintain first aid supplies and first aid kits for various sports.

  • Coordinate all activities taking place in the gyms including school and nonschool groups and communicate with custodial staff.

  • Make all purchases for the upcoming school year in spring.

  • Complete the time sheets for all the workers for the sporting events.

  • Update the coaches and volunteer handbook
