Description


SPECIAL ED PARAEDUCATORS - Several temporary summer worker Special Ed Paraeducator positions available.

DATES:  June 18 - July 17, up to 3.5 hours per day - Monday thru Friday (no school July 3 and July 6)
Assignments will be made based on student needs.

SITES AND SUMMER HOURS:
Elementary Sites for ESY: Brooksde, Morris Bye, Oxbow Creek, and Sunrise.

Elementary Sites for Targeted Services: Brookside, Hoover, Oxbow Creek, and Sunrise (1 additional day:  June 18 for classroom set up.
          Hoover Hours:  9:00-12:30 pm; Brookside, Oxbow Creek, Sunrise Hours:  8:45-12:15 pm

Secondary Sites: TEAM, STEP, Bridges, Jackson Middle, and Blaine High

Setting IV Sites for K-12: River Trail Learning Center at Verndale and Compass Program at Bell Center

All Middle Schools: 6th thru 8th Grade Targeted Services Hours:: 7:30 - 11:15 am

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  will be determined by position and may include instruction, personal care (feeding, toileting), lifting, physical assists, behavior management, and bus supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Ability to work effectively with students with disabilities.  Good communications, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills.  Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.  Ability to take direction.  Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.  Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.  Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, work devices, materials handling, data functions and people functions, but not limited to:  toileting, feeding and self care procedures, implementing behavioral management program; maintaining student data; working with students who may display aggressive, abusive or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior.

RATE OF PAY:  New Hires $14.75/hour.;  Current Paras accepting employment in their same category shall be paid at their school year ending hourly rate on the salary schedule through their summer employment, including seniority and academic credits.  Paras accepting employment in a different category shall be paid that category’s school year ending hourly rate on the salary schedule at the relevant step including seniority and academic credits. Assignments will be made based on students needs. There is no sick leave or vacation for summer staff.
