We are seeking an enthusiastic Pre-K Teacher well versed in developmentally appropriate practices, language acquisition and positive behavior supports. Ability to implement and maintain a center based learning environment that sustains academic rigor while addressing individual needs required.
Patience, compassion, and energy are all vital qualities of a successful Pre-K Teacher. The successful candidate should be capable of inspiring, encouraging, and developing young children, each of whom will have different abilities, challenges, and personalities. Candidates will also have a creative mindset and good administrative skills, in order to plan and execute lessons which are memorable, innovative, and achieve the desired learning outcomes.
Pre-K Teacher Responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing activities that build literacy, language and mathematical skills
Using hands-on methods of instruction including thoughtful investigations, active engagement in units of study, and purposeful exploration
Implementing open ended questioning, intentional adult/ child interactions and rich language exchanges
Utilizing and Planning instruction on the principles of the Creative Curriculum
Data driven instruction
Familiarity of student assessment tools, such as Early Screening Inventory, GOLD
Encouraging and monitoring social interactions between children and implementing PBS when appropriate
Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized classroom
Setting up the materials and workspaces required for class activities.
Communicating with families to build strong school/ home connections to support student growth
Working effectively with classroom paraprofessionals.
Pre-K Teacher Requirements:
Pre-K-3 NJ Certification, Students with Disabilities certification
Experience implementing the Creative Curriculum and GOLD Assessment Tool
Bilingual programing experience preferred
