Description

Position Title: Spanish Language Immersion Teacher (multiple vacancies)
Primary Location: Jefferson Elementary School and/or Winona Middle School
Assignment Specifications: 184 days, 1.0fte
Group Affiliation/Policy: Teachers Union
Classification: C-5-1
Exempt Status: Exempt

Responsibilities: The licensed teacher is responsible for delivering and instructing students in instructional material through Spanish immersion at the elementary level and middle school level; evaluating and assessing student progress against instructional outcomes and objectives; participating and collaborating with other instructional professionals, administrators, parents, counselors, and other district personnel concerning student needs, issues and district learning initiatives, curriculum and building issues.

Qualifications: As a Spanish Immersion Teacher you must possess native or near native fluency in Spanish. Qualified candidates will hold a K-6 Elementary Education license issued by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB). Candidates interested in the Middle School vacancy will also hold a K-12 Spanish license.

The WAPS Rios Program provides educational experiences, beginning in Kindergarten that support academic and linguistic development in two languages that develop students’ appreciation of their own and other cultures. The program is currently progressing into the 7th grade beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.
