Salary:  Grade D: Special Education Position $13.18-$14.23/hr. DOE or current placement on salary schedule.  Title I Instructional Paraprofessional Position Grade B:  $12.00/hr. or appropriate placement on salary schedule. Benefits Available

Description (Special Education):
This position is a part of a team of staff working primarily in a self-contained setting with additional support provided in inclusion and general education classrooms.  The aide will collaborate closely with the supervising teacher as well as with the general education teachers in support of student success.  Responsibilities will include tutoring and supervision of students at all grade levels in a variety of settings within the school.

Qualifications:
Previous experience of working with students, particularly students with learning challenges, is preferred.  Valuable attributes include patience, flexibility, initiative, problem-solving, creativity, and a student-centered mindset.  Strong communication skills are very valuable.  High School Diploma or GED; 2 Years of post secondary education, or Associates Degree.

Working Conditions:
The position is working closely with students individually or in small groups within a self-contained classroom and throughout the elementary school in general education settings. 

Description (Title I): Under general supervision of the principal, and under the close direction of a teacher, the paraprofessional will provide individual and group assistance as needed to provide the students adequate instructional services planned by the classroom teacher.  In addition this position will supervise students during lunch and/or on the playground.  The combined schedule of duties will be 8 hours per day.

Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED, plus two years post secondary education, or ability to meet NCLB requirements.  Previous experience working with elementary school age children preferred.
