ANNOUNCEMENT OF CERTIFICATED VACANCY
(2019-2020 School Year)
 
Position:     ANTICIPATED Emotional Disability Teacher (K-5)
Location:    Holland Elementary
 
Qualifications:

  1. Valid and appropriate teaching certificate/license from the State of Ohio in special education.
  2. Recent teaching experience in a special education classroom or inclusionary setting.
  3. Knowledge of academic content standards and learner outcomes associated with state assessments.
  4. Knowledge of the updated Ohio Policies and Procedures for Special Education.
  5. Knowledge of Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession and State Tests.
  6. Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training or comparable training in positive behavior intervention and supports, crisis management and de-escalation techniques.  (If no behavior training, required positive behavior intervention training will be completed at the first available time provided through the school district).
  7. Ability and willingness to provide services to special education students in multiple setting.
  8. Knowledge of effective strategies that utilize various modalities to promote learning with special education students.
  9. Knowledge of how to integrate technology into the curriculum.
  10. Knowledge and experience with the IEP process (assessment, goals, implementation, and evaluation).
  11. Strong commitment to involve parents in the educational process and willingness to hold after school parent education sessions on a quarterly basis.
  12. Willingness to meet the needs of all students.
  13. Strong communication skills - ability to communicate with students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
  14. Willingness to work in school sponsored and school related activities.
  15. Familiar with and able to implement the following programs/methodologies – ABA therapy, Ziggurat, CAPS, Edmark, Touch math, HWOT, Boardmaker, VB model
  16. Willingness to supervise and manage adult aides assigned to meet the needs of students.
  17. Experience working with a culturally diverse student population preferred.
