Anticipated - Paraprofessional Position
Dwight Common School is ANTICIPATING the following position for the 2020-2021 school year:
PARAPROFESSIONAL: Teacher Assistant
Paraprofessional or Professional Educator's License
DCSD is a one building PreK-8th grade district serving approximately 480 students with 33 certified staff members and 19 paraprofessionals.

Assist the teacher(s) in the area(s) assigned to maintain and promote an environment in which students may learn effectively.
Possibly working with students with autism. Diapering/feeding and other duties may be required.
Reports to Building Principal
Interacts positively with students
Fosters student independence
Provide instructional support assistance to students and student groups
Helps establish and maintain a positive and challenging learning environment
Provides effective behavior management for all students
Treats all students with fairness, respect, and consistency
Uses tact, courtesy, and discretion when working with teachers
Ability to handle confidential information with complete security
Conform to District policy regarding attendance and absences. Employee attendance must be adequate to perform the above listed essential job functions.
Other duties as assigned by building principal

Required Qualifications Necessary to Perform Essential Functions:
Be at least 19 years of age and;
Show proof of one (1) of the following requirements:
Associate's degree or higher
60 semester hours of coursework
Acceptable criminal background check
Ability to communicate effectively in order to follow oral/written directions and specific rules, regulations and processes and apply them to a variety of situations
Must demonstrate ability to read and write English at a level required for successful job performance
Desirable Knowledge & Abilities:
Previous experience in a public school setting
Ability to operate a variety of technology devices
Ability to work independently at routine tasks
Ability to learn special needs of particular individuals
Ability to maintain discipline among students
Ability to conduct learning activities with individual and / or small groups of students
Ability to learn and interpret rules, regulations, laws and instructions
Knowledge of and ability to use English correctly and appropriately
Ability to interact with teachers and student with tact, courtesy, and discretion
Ability to escort and assist children as necessary
Ability to adjust to irregular schedules and unexpected changes in routine
Salary is commensurate with the district Paraprofessional Initial Placement Schedule for 2020-2021.
