Mental Health Counselor
Must hold a license issued by any agency.
The license position area must be in Social Worker.
The license must be in one of the following grades: 6th, 7th, 8th.
The license status must be active.
Essential Functions of the Position: • Provide mental health counseling and support to improve the psychological, social, and emotional well-being of all students. • Advise and provide guidance to building & district administration regarding needs of students & staff • Provide counseling services to students in need (trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, etc.) • Make him/herself available to all students seeking psychological, social, and emotional services. • Advocate on behalf of the student and/or his/her family. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students. • Build trusting relationships with students, families, staff, and outside service agencies. • Conduct home visits as necessary. • Facilitate outreach efforts to provide services to students, parents/guardians and staff. • Connect students, parents/guardians and staff with specialized referral agencies. • Participate and lead in-service activities promoted by the district. • Submit required reports promptly and accurately. • Adhere to and support board policy, school guidelines, administrative rules and directives. • Rigorously follow behavioral health ethical guidelines such as ACA and ASCA
