Special Education Teachers - Elementary, Middle, and High School positions
Must hold a license issued by Virginia Department of Education.
The license must be in one of the following types: Collegiate Professional License, Postgraduate Professional License, Provisional License, Pupil Personnel Services License, Statement of Eligibility, Special Education Conditional License.
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: Autism, Deaf-Blind, Early Intervention Specialist, Educational Diagnostician, Emotional Behavior Disabilities, Hearing Impairment, Intellectual Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Mild/Moderate Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Severe/Profound Disabilities, Special Education (General), Traumatic Brain Injury, Visual Impairment.
The license must be in one of the following grades: Preschool/Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
Applicant must hold or be eligible for a VA Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement. Interviews are conducted at each school site by the administrative team. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Thorough knowledge of subject(s) taught; thorough knowledge of elementary, secondary or special education principles, practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching; thorough knowledge of school division rules, regulations and procedures; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, administration, and parents.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited college or university and possess or be eligible to acquire appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) for position as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Candidates must possess demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, staff, administrators, and parents. Candidate must possess good moral character and is expected to be a role model, in and out of the school, consistent with the RCPS Pillars of Character, as defined in the Student Conduct Policy, JFC.
