Manistee Intermediate School District currently has a vacancy in the following area:
 
JOB TITLE: School Psychologist
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  
 
A school psychologist shall meet all of the following requirements:
 

  • Require Michigan Psychologist Certification.
  • Have completed a minimum of 45 graduate semester hours in school psychology or related areas, in addition to an internship.
  • Have completed not less than 500 clock hour supervised internship with school age persons under the supervision of an approved school psychologist training institution.
  • Meet the competency requirements as set for the in R340.1156.
  • Have completed one year of successful experience as a school psychologist with direction from a fully approved school psychologist.
 
 DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
The School Psychologist shall have duties and responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
  1. Evaluating students suspected of being handicapped.
  2. Evaluating other students as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
  3. Conduct re-evaluation of those students with handicaps requiring a school psychologist.
  4. Consulting with school staff, administration, parents, and ISD staff on educational matters, which could include behavior modification interventions, adaptive instruction and materials.
  5. Effectively communicate with school staff, administration and parents both verbally and in writing.
  6. Collaborate with staff and parents in planning educational interventions, curriculum, behavioral management plans, and teaching strategies. Continue professional development.
  7. Organize and manage assigned caseloads in order to meet legal mandates and timelines.
  8. Provide inservice training and/or workshops.
  9.  Facilitate in Individual Educational Planning Committee meetings.
  10. Inform parents of the special education process and due process rights.
  11. Effectively communicate the results of evaluation efforts to school staff and parents both verbally and in writing.
  12. Inform the Director of Special Education of any instances of noncompliance with rules, regulations or IEPC recommendations.
  13. Facilitate and develop initial 504 plans with school personnel.
  14. Maintain and continue to develop knowledge of Special Education laws, 504, remediation and accommodations, and current assessment issues including recent requirements.
