Description:  2019 Summer School ESL Teachers (4) Pending Enrollment

Terms of Employment:  
(2) East Dover Elementary - Grades K-4 (Monday-Thursday 8:30am-12:30pm)
                                                   June 18th (PD Day)
                                                   June 24-July 18, 2019 (program)
                                         (2) Dover High School - Grades 5-8 / Grades 9-12 (Monday-Thursday 8:00am-12:00pm) Pending enrollment
                                                   June 18th (PD Day)
                                                   June 24-July 18, 2019 (program)

Reports to:  Building Principal / Supervisor of Instruction

Salary:  $33.97 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for ESL
  • Experience working with bilingual students
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Obtain necessary WIDA test certifications
  • Administer WIDA W-APT and MODEL placement tests to determine student ESL eligibility
  • Administer annual ACCESS test to ESL students to determine growth in English Language proficiency
  • Plan and provide small group instruction to K-12 students in order to maximize their English proficiency
  • Communicate with and provide instructional strategies to regular classroom teachers enabling them to increase the learning of ESL students in the regular classroom
  • Determine appropriate ESL accommodations for students
  • Assist with the administration of the Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System to ESL students
  • Communicate ESL student progress to parents via parent conferences, IEP meetings, phone calls, etc.
  • Work with district ESL team and school staffs to accomplish District ESL mission and goals
  • Promote Capital's ESL services at the annual Capital Education Faire
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Other duties as directed by immediate supervisor
