JOB TITLE: Coach
POSITION TYPE: Certified or Classified
REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Athletic Director
POSITION PURPOSE: Teaches sport activities to individuals or groups by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Explain and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment.
Explains and demonstrates principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of body, hands, or feet to achieve proficiency in activity.
Observes students during practice to detect and correct mistakes.
Explains and enforces safety rule and regulations.
Explains method of keeping score.
Organizes and conducts competition and tournaments.
May participate in competition to demonstrate skill.
May purchase, display, sell, maintain, or repair equipment.
May keep record of receipts and expenditures.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Appropriate certification as required by the Indiana Department of Education.
Ability to plan and organize.
Skills in human relations.
Ability to communicate effectively with groups of students and parents.
Knowledgeable in the particular sport being coached.
Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.
