Secondary ELA/ACT Coach
Must hold a certificate issued by Oklahoma State Department of Education.
The certificate must be in Standard Professional Certificate I.
The certificate position area must be in one of the following areas: English, Journalism, Reading, Reading Specialist, Reading/Language Arts.
The certificate must be in one of the following grades: 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The certificate status must be active.

Role and Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to: Research the Oklahoma Academic Standards for High School and the ACT test in order to serve as a resource for promoting student and teacher growth in learning and teaching literacy content Plan and facilitate professional development in Secondary ELA and ACT for the district that includes information to ensure teachers are knowledgeable and understand instructional design of how the program meets the standards alignment through various modes such as: PLC’s, webinars, Epic University trainings, individual discussions, coaching sessions, etc. Provide staff development to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable about OAS and ACT test prep components and understand the instructional design of how the program meets the standards alignment Serve as a resource for for teachers, principals, and administration in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve individual student achievement Work collaboratively with teachers to support and share best practices, as needed as well as assist teachers in pacing and sequencing instruction Participate in writing and aligning curriculum for teachers which provides multiple forms of instructional methods Research, prepare materials, and identify resources for use by the district, teams, and teachers including: teaching strategies, assessment of secondary ELA and interpretation and use of assessment results Participate in collaborative meetings to assist in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve the focus of instructional planning and student achievement for Secondary ELA Collaborate with a team of other instructional coaches, with other departments, and with teachers on a regular basis to improve student achievement for all students. Meets regularly (weekly) with the administrative team to review benchmarks and established data points to assess student progress towards established instructional goals. Meet monthly with other coaches and curriculum team members as needed. Attends other meetings and trainings as directed. Additional projects and duties as needed by management Obtain prior approval from the Administrator before distributing written communication and other media. Skills and Abilities: Strong work ethic and self-starter, able to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to change within a high-volume and fast-paced environment. Must possess a professional and friendly attitude and be able to quickly develop a rapport with faculty. Ability to learn and navigate new software and technology quickly.
