Principal St. Rita School
Our Belief Statements
St. Rita School exists to teach the doctrine of Christ, to build a Christian Community, to prepare the students for Christian service, and to guide the child to a level of faith that is constantly active and open to growth.
Our educational programs center on the development of a unique individual and the creation of an environment that allows each student the experience of developing a positive self-image to the best of his/her abilities.
With the cooperation of the parents, we strive to promote lasting Christian attitudes and practices, which will enable the students to adapt to our changing world.
- We believe in educating the whole child in a Christ-centered atmosphere.
- We believe that each child can learn.
- We believe each child is unique and we celebrate his/her difference.
- We believe in every child reaching his/her fullest potential.
- We believe in accommodating different learning styles to facilitate success academically, socially, and morally.
- We believe that learning is a life-long process and strive to instill a love of learning.
- We believe that each of us is a gift from God and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.
- We believe in fostering a strong relationship with God that leads each child to deepen his/her own faith.
- We believe each individual possesses certain God given talents which can be used for the service of others and provide the foundation for future success.
- We are empowering our students to build the Catholic Church of tomorrow.
St. Rita School opened its doors in September of 1949. Since then, St. Rita has grown and evolved into a top-rated private, Catholic School supported by a vibrant parish community.
Our 10-acre campus is located in Solon, Ohio where we proudly serve the educational needs of 9 neighboring parish communities and our students come to us from 25 different school districts.
For almost 65 years, St. Rita School has provided an exceptional academic and spiritual education at an affordable price. Since our earliest days, we remain committed to preparing our students for a lifetime of success, continued learning and service to others.
Over the years, our campus has grown to include a library, music room, fine art studio, computer lab and a learning center which offers extra help and therapies. Mazanec Hall houses a spacious gymnasium and stage where students host musicals, concerts, sports games and tournaments. Students also attend weekly mass and participate in many service projects throughout the year--growing and strengthening their relationship with God during their time at St. Rita School.
The last decade has seen exciting enhancements to our curriculum as we continuously update and add to the technological offerings students enjoy both in the classroom and at home. Each classroom is equipped with electronic, interactive whiteboards that can be linked to each teacher's wireless laptop for instant access to the internet. We have integrated iPads into our curriculum for students to use in and out of the classroom and are replacing cumbersome textbooks with online versions. Each classroom is further enhanced by the addition of Apple TV. Apple TV allows educators to take advantage of "mirroring capabilities" which project their iPad's screen to an LCD projector. Reading, Math and Science Apps are also utilized through Apple TV--ensuring visual access to the material by all learners at all times.
Through a generous donation, our school security system is state of the art and a recent review by the Solon Police Department ensures we remain at the highest level of safety procedures.
We created our Before School and After School Childcare programs to give parents the scheduling flexibility they need while assuring their children are well cared for during the hour before school starts or after school dismisses. After School Childcare students are given a healthy snack, homework assistance, safe escort to various after-school extracurricular activities on campus, seasonal crafts and games.
In the Fall of 2013, the doors of our new Little Falcon Learning Center opened and we welcomed our 3 year, 4 year and Pre-K students! Our newly expanded early childhood educational program offers the same level of academic excellence as found in our K-8 day school. We offer half-day and full-day programs for all of our preschool students and After School Childcare is available for preschool students as well! The Little Falcon Learning Center at St. Rita School is perfect for helping our littlest falcons grow, learn and explore this wonderful world God has provided.
