Description

POSITION:        Instructional Interventionist (Kdg-8th)
REPORTS TO:  Assistant Superintendent/Principal

BASIC PURPOSES:   The goal of the Instructional Interventionist is to assist students (GenEd and English Language Learners) who have been identified as at-risk specifically in the areas of literacy and mathematics to provide a continuum of support and help them get on grade level. The interventionist develops material and lesson plans, conducts classroom instruction and evaluates and assesses student performance.  The interventionist interprets student progress and monitors student strengths, weaknesses and progress.  The interventionist meets with the Assistant Superintendent/Principal to determine strategies, schedules and possible trainings weekly.  The interventionist collaborates with identified teachers who share the at-risk/ELL students served and develops a transition plan for students between who meet grade level goals.  The interventionist meets with small groups of students to facilitate instruction. 

Essential Duties:

  • Shall be familiar with MTSS/RTI process and Tiered Instruction
  • Shall possess skills at interpretation of assessment data to drive instruction
  • Shall be proficient in the teaching of language acquisition
  • Shall review data to make instructional decisions to address student weaknesses
  • Shall possess knowledge in math intervention strategies and actual implementation

  • Shall prepare and deliver explicit, scientifically based instruction to small groups of students utilizing a push-in/out model delivery depending on student needs
  • Shall implement the assigned program of instruction with fidelity
  • Shall be familiar with implementation of language screeners and ACCESS (preferred)
  • Shall monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives
  • Shall work collaboratively and communicate effectively with district-level instructional supervisors to evaluate, select and implement math strategies that provide enhanced learning experiences addressing content standards and student achievement goals
  • Shall maintain the confidentiality, both verbally and in written form, of each student's educational record

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
  • Must posses a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a teaching subject, with certified Illinois Teaching License
  • Additional certificate/endorsements in Bilingual Education preffered but not required
  • Must possess effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and the public

Bilingual Interventionists will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other related duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor or other appropriate Administrators

Salary will be regionally competitive and based upon experience as dictated by the CBA
