Description

SUMMARY

SEED MD Instructional Coaches engage teachers in meaningful evidence-based professional learning experiences that develop practitioner capacity to garner dramatic gains in student progress and performance. The SEED MD Instructional Coach is an essential leader within the Department of Academics and is held accountable for partnering with teachers to help each student graduate high school and earn degrees from SEED Network endorsed colleges and universities. Overarching Goals:

• 80 -100 % of teachers will demonstrate proficient and distinguished performance as measured by the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching (FfT). • 100% of teachers rated developing or ineffective will be engaged in individual or small group job-embedded coaching cycles that are guided by student and teacher data. • Identify and develop at least 4 teacher content leaders in grades 6 – 12. These lead teacher classrooms will become learning labs in which other teachers will observe, reflect and plan for high learning for each student. • Maintain instructional excellence by demonstrating distinguished practice via teaching a course(s) or small groups of students during intervention blocks. • Lead or co-lead at least one Cycle of Professional Learning (CPL) each year.

Task Expectations:

• Bolster content and pedagogical understandings through research, practice and ongoing investment in professional learning. • Use the SEED MD coaching model, protocols and tools to develop proficient and distinguished teachers. • Demonstrate distinguished teaching in your classroom. • Actively participate in the SEED MD Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), grade – level and content team roundtables. • Actively participate in Cycle of Professional Learning (CPL) leadership. • Collaborate with school administrators to plan and execute the 6 –12 instructional vision, evidence – based practices and Cycles of Professional Learning (CPLs). • Partner with the SEED MD Professional Develop Specialist to design and deliver high – quality professional learning experiences for SEED MD community. • Collaborate with the SEED MD Student Life Team, Student Support Team, and Special Education Team, to create programs and services that best meet the needs of our students. • Contribute to the development of the School Performance Plan and the School –Wide Title I process. • Support teachers with learning how to use data to direct instruction and plan units and lessons that meet the unique needs of each diverse learner. • Provide direct support to teachers working in after-school extended learning labs (ex. writing, math, and reading). • Support SEED content teams with creating or selecting excellent culturally responsive curricula that contribute to the intellectual engagement of our students. • Other duties as assigned.
