Description

Position:        Intervention Specialist (ED Classroom)

 

Reports to:    Building Principal

 

Contract:       Full-Time

 

Description: Manages classroom and implements appropriate programs, ensure delivery of Individual Education Programs (IEPs), conducts and participates in team meetings and attends parent conferences, supervises classroom assistants and volunteers

Qualifications

  1. Valid Ohio teaching certificate or license, as issued by the Ohio State Department of Education, Office of Teacher Certification and Licensure, pursuant to ORC 3319.22 to 3319.31 or in accordance with standards authorized by law.

  2. Ability to provide leadership and direction and to work cooperatively with other professional staff.

  3. Ability to maintain effective relationships with teachers, administrators, staff, parents and community members.

  4. Ability to communicate effectively in written or oral form to staff, students, parents, and community members.

  5. Meet the applicable requirements of a “highly qualified” teacher under the Ohio and Federal Guidelines within the appropriate timelines

  6. Education and/or training which evidences a thorough knowledge of instruction of students with multiple disabilities, curriculum development and implementation, classroom management, parent education and involvement, teaming with other education specialist and the ability to supervise classroom assistants

  7. Training in Crisis Intervention
