JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant
Department: Special Education
Reports to: Director of Special Education
 
Position Summary: The Occupational Therapist Assistant assists with helping student’s self-care, work and leisure activities as prescribed by their treatment plans.  
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Associate Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy Assistant
Certification/Licensure: Must hold a valid Georgia state license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant

Knowledge
  • Communicates effectively and promotes good public relations with all stakeholders
  • Works with peers/supervisors in a considerate and cooperative manner and assists others when needed
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Attends work every day on time and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently
  2. Exhibits a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in working with School Board members, school administrators, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public
  3. Assists occupational therapists with implementing treatment plans designed to help students function independently.
  4. Observes and document students' progress, attitudes and behavior and report to supervisor.
  5. Monitor and evaluate students' performance in therapy activities.
  6. Selects therapy activities to fit students' needs and capabilities and alters treatment programs as necessary.
  7. Consults with families regarding therapy needed to promote improvement in basic living skills and the care and use of adaptive equipment.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Security Clearance: The Glynn County School System requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting on all new employees, including all substitutes and other designated employees.

WORK DAYS: 190

COMPENSATION RANGE: $23,181 - $37,739*
*Salary is commensurate with experience and certification.
