Exempt, 232 Work Days, 8-Hours Per Day
Assists the administration, teachers and staff and operates a smooth, efficient and organized office that meets the educational goals of the school by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Types all correspondence, reports, forms, etc. for the school principal.
Maintains principal's calendar by scheduling appointments and meetings with parents, community, etc.
Serves as a liaison between parents, students and administrators.
Maintains staff attendance, tracks personal days and enters payroll daily.
Enrolls/withdraws students on district approved database as applicable.
Sorts and distributes mail.
Secures substitutes when necessary.
Orders all supplies and equipment for office.
Enters purchase orders and mails daily as applicable.
Manages the buildings petty cash as applicable.
Organizes and maintains kindergarten and new student registration and orientation.
Prepares annual staff directory and emergency phone chain.
Maintains student cumulative files.
Assists with opening and closing of the school each year.
Types and updates student, staff and parent handbooks.
Assists the Parent Teacher Organization regarding flow of information to principal and students as applicable.
Collaborates with the principal on adult education including finding teachers for classes, selecting classes, creating flyers, tracking participants and collecting and depositing monies as applicable.
Types contracts and purchase orders for adult education as applicable.
Maintains office equipment such as copy machines, fax machines and printers.
Assumes responsibility of maintaining up to date knowledge of technology utilized by the district.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with personal computers is required. Experience with office machinery is required. Experience using the district selected computer software is required.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration. Ability to read and interpret documents such as reference manuals, Board policies and procedures manuals. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community. Ability to effectively present information to administration and staff.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory based on school objectives. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication. Ability to use computers where applicable. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
