EL Instructional Aide (Bilingual Required)
Assignment Area: In classroom and out of classroom student support for identified special education and at-risk students
Assist special education students with learning activities and experiences under supervision of certified teacher. Work in self-contained, classroom, or itinerant capacity as assigned.
Assist at-risk students with Tier II and III appropriate learning activities and experiences under supervision of certified teacher. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to master State learning expectations and assessments.
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas educational aide certification or NCLB - Highly Qualified Paraprofessional
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Some experience working with children preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1.Assist teacher in preparing supplemental instructional materials and classroom displays.
2.Assist with supplemental work assignments.
3.Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
4.Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
5.Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
6.Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
7.Conduct supplemental instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
8.Support assigned students in all settings including general education classrooms.
9.Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
10.Help supervise students throughout school day.
11.Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
12.Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
13.Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
15.Be punctual in all areas.
16.Be a positive role model for all students.
17.Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
