The Early Childhood Teacher provides support to families having deaf/hard of hearing and/or blind/visually impaired infants and toddlers (age 0-3) throughout Arizona.
The Teacher works with the Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP) and implements the services designated on the child and family IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan). The teacher will work with the family and AzEIP team in:  sharing sensory specific information relative to their child's hearing or vision loss, prepare lesson plans for individual home visits, conduct and coordinate relevant assessments, contribute to  and carry out outcomes on the child's IFSP, monitor child development and progress, support completion of parent surveys, network with medical providers  and other community agencies and assist with the transition process from a Part C (0-3 Early Intervention) program to a Part B (preschool) program.   Services are provided primarily within natural environments and throughout daily routines.
The Early Childhood teacher will also:
Become trained in Early Childhood Curriculum that support the development of sensory impaired infants and toddlers.
Maintain required teacher certification
Maintain files/reports/database to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws
Continue professional growth through agency provided training and through outside coursework and workshops
Monitor, track and submit caseload/assessment data to Program Director on a regular basis
Monitor amplification equipment and/or assistive technology
Keep informed of laws, regulations and agency policies
Be privy to budget information and departmental fiscal responsibilities
Needs Independent and reliable Transportation. Travel is required.
  • Experience or interest in Early Childhood Education Programs.
  • Experience or interest in working directly with families.
  • Course work and experience in early childhood development and family counseling.
  • Must be able to pass FBI and State background check
  • Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business
  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Deaf Education or Education of the Blind and Visually Impaired,
  • Certified or certifiable by Arizona State Department of Education as a teacher (HI or VI).
  • Current AERBVI certification for Visually Impaired or current CED or Dead/Hard of Hearing preferred.
  • Communication options/opportunities available for d/hh children
