Pre-service Substitute Teacher (60 Credits)
PRE-SERVICE SUBSTITUTE TEACHER (ACT 86 OF 2016)
The Act 86 Program, effective summer of 2016, allows current students enrolled in a Pennsylvania accredited college or university pursuing teacher certification to work as a substitute teacher. The program is designed for students of education to gain experience in the classroom for a maximum of twenty days per school year. The prespective Pre-Service Substitute Teacher must have at least 60 semester credit hours or the equivalent of courses to be eligible.
In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute is responsible for providing instruction and managing the learning environment.
Provide instruction to the students of the assigned classroom in conjunction with the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher
Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
Follow the established routines and procedures of the classroom to which assigned
Adhere to all policies, rules and procedures to which teachers are subject
Ensure that a safe and orderly learning environment is maintained
Work cooperatively with all school personnel
Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal.
Perform other duties as assigned
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret lesson plans, technical procedures, and textbooks. Ability to write general correspondence. Ability to present information effectively and respond appropriately to questions and concerns from individuals, administrators, parents and students.
