Preschool Parent Educator Job Description

Title:                         Preschool Parent Educator
Reports to:               Principal, supervising teacher


Job Summary:
The position of Preschool Parent Educator is a classified position limited to 300 hours per year to be scheduled with the Principal.  The Parent Educator is to assist the teacher in preparing in the learning process for students, to perform a variety of supportive tasks for students and teacher and perform related work as required.   

Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma
2. Current Parent

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher in the students’ learning process.
  • Assist the teacher in preparation for student activities and events.
  • Act as a liaison between the teacher and families regarding classroom events, parent education opportunities, etc.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Perform the physical tasks necessary to monitor, supervise and physically assist students throughout the school day during a variety of instructional activities. Must be able to function effectively in an active, loud environment.  Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment as circumstances require.

The preschool parent educator position is a nine (9) month classified (at-will) position.  The numbers of actual hours to be worked will be no more than 300 hours within the school year.

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by an administrator and is dependant year-to-year on grant funding.
