Buffalo Lake-Hector School District

Description

Each student is considered to be a unique individual who must be equipped to face the complexities of a changing world. This school should encourage and provide for a positive attitude toward learning and self-concept for each student through successful achievements. Education is continuous process in which home, church, and school should cooperate and share responsibility. The curriculum should be regularly analyzed in order to evaluate its effectiveness in meeting the goals of the school and student. Education involves movement by students from relative dependency when first entering school to relative independence and productivity when graduating from school. The school program should reflect the needs and attitudes of the community, and should reflect positive home and family traditions. The school should foster free and equal exchange of thought, respecting the freedom and dignity of all people. The school board, teachers, parents and students should cooperatively develop educational programs which will meet the intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and emotional needs of each student, according to his or her ability. The school should teach skills and encourage active participation in a democratic society. The school should be primarily responsible for the development of basic skills in communication and mathematics.
