Isle of Wight County is located in Southeastern Virginia, just a short drive from Hampton, Newport News, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach. Isle of Wight offers both suburban and rural lifestyles on the banks of the James River. The school division has 5,000 students attending its five elementary, two middle, and two high schools, and one alternative center.

"The mission of Isle of Wight County Schools is to provide rigorous academic programs in a safe school environment that fosters high levels of student achievement. The Isle of Wight School Division is committed to offering educational programs characterized by high academics that prepare students to exceed state and national accreditation standards. The curriculum will prepare students to lifelong learners for the ever-changing global community."
