Hawthorne Leadership School For Girls (District)

Hawthorn Leadership School for Girls is a single-sex charter public school for middle school girls who are St. Louis City residents. Hawthorn is a STEM-focused, college preparatory school with a rigorous academic program. Hawthorn faculty establish high expectations for students in and out of the classroom, and provide the academic and developmental support the girls need to meet those expectations. We opened in Fall 2015 and currently serve grades 6-8. We will add a new grade each year until we are fully enrolled 6th-12th grade; we are adding 9th grade for 2017-2018. Washington University serves as Hawthorn’s charter sponsor. Hawthorn is an affiliate of the Young Women’s Leadership Network (YWLN), an entrepreneurial, results-driven non-profit organization that supports five all girls public schools in New York City and 12 affiliate schools across the country. YWLN has a proven track record in creating a college-going culture in schools and making the dream of college a reality for many young women from low-income and minority backgrounds.
