Sublette County School District #1

1,000 students attend our high school (9-12), alternative high school (9-12), middle school (6-8), and elementary school (K-5) in Pinedale and 4 students attend our one-room school house in Bondurant (K-5), 50 miles North of Pinedale. The district encompasses 3,728 square miles. Sublette County has a population of 10,000 with 6,000 people residing within the school district boundaries of which 2,200 people in live the town of Pinedale proper. We are located 77 miles south of Jackson Hole, 100 miles north of Rock Springs and I-80, and 240 miles northeast of Salt Lake City, Utah. Major airports and modern hospitals are located in Jackson Hole and Rock Springs. Pinedale has their own medical center with 3 doctors and 1 PA. Pinedale is surrounded by the Gros Ventre Mountains, the Wyoming Range, and the Wind River Range. It is adjacent to the headwaters of the Green River and the Wind River wilderness area, and is within just hours of Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Fremont Lake, Half Moon Lake, New Fork Lake, Green River Lake, and the Bridger National Forest are minutes away by car and provide some of the best freshwater fishing, backpacking, hiking, and hunting in the world. Pinedale’s abundant natural resources include the world class Pinedale Anticline and Jonah natural gas fields, ranch land, forest lands, wildlife, beautiful vistas, pure lakes and streams, and clean air. Winter sports include skiing, ice fishing, and snow machining. Tourism, ranching, gas exploration, local businesses, dude ranching, and outfitting form the economic base of the Pinedale area. Pinedale is the location of the county seat and county court house. Sublette County enjoys a very low unemployment rate. Wyoming has no state income tax and sales tax in Sublette County is 4%.
